ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kathleen Hurley Liao is an artist who pushes the boundaries of mixed-media abstract art. An alumna of Barnard College, Columbia University (B.A.in Anthropology), she started her artistic journey over 15
years ago in 2007.Influenced by automatism and expressionism, she weaves
her experiences into energetic, rhythmic, creations. Her most recent works are profoundly influenced by her relationship with the music and arts community across the globe. She's been featured in galleries from Trenton NJ to Busan South Korea, and was an Artist-in-Residence at the
acclaimed Château d'Orquevaux in France.She was honored with a commission by the New Jersey
Capital Philharmonic to create work for their performance of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” in 2023. She is also a recipient of the Outstanding West Windsor Artist award from the West Windsor Arts Council, and two Best in Printmaking awards from the Trenton, City Museum.Kathleen maintains a studio in Hightstown, NJ.
